Young Woman + Modern Life = VickyC.me

I started my website, http://vickyc.me, as a “current events” sort of site. I didn’t really do much research into what sort of niche (if any) I was going to have, or what my audience would be.
I just knew that I enjoy writing and expressing my opinion on things. Subsequently, my website is now just over 2 months old, and it has covered a lot of ground – news, reviews, make-up, beauty tips.. I have yet to find my niche, but so far I have found that this is what works for me.
I think aside from the current events part of my site, my niche is about being a 20-something year old girl – for example, how to have a good skin-care regime without having to drop $200 at a spa, how to make face-masks at home, or how to make presentable canapés for a cocktail party without paying a small fortune.
I love things that are low cost and easy to do and that’s something that I want to share with my readers. I also feel that my uniqueness comes in my writing style – I want what I write to be both informative and interesting, and not to be read like a car manual.
I feel that if I focused my website on just skin-care tips, or maybe even just beauty tips, that I would run out of things to write. I mean, there are only so many combination of fruits and vegetables that you can crush up and throw on your face!
The vision I have is to have a site that can offer different things – but all in my style of course! So I would keep my current events, beauty tips, recipes and maybe review the occasional movie, book or consumer product.
I realize that it’s a lot of work, and most websites of this magnitude that offer this much content are run by a team of people, but I think with enough hard work and enough cups of coffee, I can get it done!
My readership is steadily growing – which is a good thing. So hopefully by this time next year, I’ll have myself a successful website!
