Why Wordpress is the BEST Blogging Platform

My blog is just over 3 months old. I have always liked writing, but was always too scared to actually start a blog. My computer skills are not very strong and I don’t know much about HTML or anything. I had heard about Wordpress and how user friendly it is – you pick a theme and you’re pretty much good to go!

I didn’t use their free hosting, and instead used Wordpress.org and downloaded the platform. This allows me to have more options in terms of what I can do with my blog and also, I was able to have my own domain name – as opposed to one with “Wordpress” written all over it. So with what I have now, I have to pay for hosting and I had to pay for my domain name, but I have WAY more options than if I would have gone with Wordpress.com and had them host my blog for me.

By using Wordpress.org, I am able to incorporate Google Adsense, and have made some money by doing this. I also have custom email addresses along with my custom domain name. Everything is fully customizable – as opposed to with Wordpress.com. It is a little complicated at times, but their forum is extremely useful and covers everything from how to install Wordpress to how to upgrade your theme, add widgets, etc. So someone without advanced computer skills is able to create a fully functioning website – as long as you’re willing to go through the forums and put time into learning about Wordpress and how the widgets and various tools work.

I have big plans for my blog, as I want it to look more like a website than a blog. Wordpress.com would not allow me the versatility to be able to do this as their templates are very limited. I also would not be able to incorporate Google Adsense and make money!

I try to post an article each day, but sometimes it’s a little difficult!! At least Wordpress is such an easy platform that all I have to worry about is what my content is going to be.
